“Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow”- Helen Keller
Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm.
Fear may occur in response to a certain stimulus occurring in the present (visible fear) or anticipation or expectation of a future unknown threat perceived as a risk to oneself (invisible fear)
A couple of years back I was in a state of constant fear about losing my mother when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer, my sense of fear was backed up by strong evidence like PET Scans etc besides her daily visible health condition, every day we were hoping against hope that she gets well soon, however, my worst fears came true when she finally passed away on 2nd April 2018, I was devastated at that point of time however eventually with time I came to terms with her demise and realized that she was going through a lot of anguish and pain and she has now left for a better place of peace and tranquillity and is in the abode of the almighty. Ultimately positivity and delving deep into my consciousness helped me cope up and come to terms with her demise and made me stronger mentally.
In the current pandemic situation, a sense of fear is engulfing almost every one of us. This is the fear of an unknown invisible enemy which might sneak in without a warning, we are stuck in a whirlpool of uncontrolled thoughts. Thoughts like ‘what will happen? are a constant. We are fearful of how to fight an invisible enemy?
However, we should drop the anxiety about something unknown and invisible and bring your mind to the present moment. All the actions happen only in the present moment, as one cannot act in the future. With a relaxed and calm mind, we should be able to carry out desired actions as situation demands by overcoming fear. We should delve deep inside our consciousness and understand our higher nature and stay positive in any situation. We should be careful and not fearful.
The key to overcoming fear is to realize and understand your own fear. When you realize and understand your own fear you will be able to overcome it.
As per Hinduism our Supreme God Krishna says that every time we experience fear we must remember at the same time there is something fearless inside us too. Every time we doubt there is part of us that is doubtless. Every time we are sad there is part of us that is still happy.
Krishna says “now I shall reveal to you the greatest knowledge knowing which there will be no other knowledge needed to be known. The earth, the air, the fire, the space, the water, the mind, the body and the intellect know that to be eight fold distinctive nature. That is my lower nature and my higher nature oh Arjun know it to be other than that. Know all beings to be born of a dual nature.”
So all of us have a duality of nature. Our lower nature contains emotions like fear etc but we also have a higher nature which is above all that. So when you are experiencing incredible fear your consciousness is always fearless. Just get immersed into it.
Know that fearlessness is always ready to help you. Fearlessness is like a good friend who will support you when needed most.Krishna says that the self indeed is a friend of the self. When you subdue these fears your consciousness will come in your support. We just need to understand our true nature and attain self realization, and once we reach or attain that level we will be able to overcome all our fears.
Ultimately whether we have to battle a visible or an invisible fear we should understand and realize our true nature and stay positive and stable in any situation and have faith and confide in the Almighty.
Stay positive , relax, stay calm and this too shall pass.
